Last update Acr DC on May has been successful installed. Both Acr versions are still working. By the way: there is a possibility to repair an Acr installation Desperate last resort. I did install the update and that seems to have cured the problem. Leave it up to Billy to mess things up. After trying all sorts of other things, the update worked for me.
The app stayed open just long enough for me to click the update link. It worked for a while. Never had trouble on the older machine. Thanks to the suggestions in this thread 1 installing the updater; 2 turning off the Internet connection; and finally 3 running in compatibility mode, it is now working again.
